The Workshop Cast of Characters

Featured Participants

Jamie
(45), a filmmaker from London, goes to explore what is behind the workshop. A radical 10 days of gut-wrenching soul-searching ensues where Jamie finds himself one of the subjects of his own film.

Laurel (30), an ex-BBC research assistant, (now yoga teacher and life coach) arrives a happily married woman and leaves the workshop with an impending divorce having turned into a wild, highly sexual woman but who realises that she has been fooling everyone including herself.

Ryan (29), an American yoga teacher to A-list Hollywood stars. His boundaries are so wide open that anything goes. Despite being anti-monogamy, he is in a ‘relationship’ with Maddy which is going to get blown to bits.

Maddy (30), an English journalist and Laurel’s best friend who has quit her life in London to go and find herself. Madly in love with Ryan, she is prepared to experiment with non-monogamy for him. But jealousy intervenes dramatically when he decides he wants to have sex with Laurel.

Brian (28), a charity sales rep and aspiring artist, is a typically reserved British male trying to confront his emotions. Totally out of place, he finds the workshop overwhelming and nearly quits on a number of occasions, but proudly battles it out to the end.

Paul Lowe (72), leader of the workshop. A guru? Sex-cult leader? Motivational speaker? Enlightened human being? From his humble beginnings as a lad from Birmingham, he has been everything from an ad executive, to a live sex show performer in Amsterdam (this he did to get over any sexual inhibitions), to head of the Osho spiritual movement in the 70’s and therapist and counsellor to the rich and famous. Considered to be on the cutting edge of the new age movement alongside he likes of Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra. www.paullowe.org
