Jonathan Ellerby

Jonathan brings a rare blend of experience and training to his work as a spiritual teacher and healer. For 20 years Jonathan has studied and explored a wide range of spiritual traditions and healing systems. Through his studies and travels around the world, Jonathan has learned with spiritual leaders and holistic healers from more than 40 different cultures; has studied and participated in ceremonies of most of the world’s major religious traditions; and has studied and experienced a wide range of complimentary healing systems. He applies his studies and training in the fields of spiritual growth, integrative healing, and business consulting.

Jonathan is an ordained Interfaith minister. His BA Honors, MA and PhD studies all address understanding and articulating the relationship between spirituality and healing. Jonathan’s training also includes: study at the Institute for the Study of Health and Illness in San Francisco, focusing on humanities curriculum development for physicians and healthcare professionals; and more then 14 years of training and work with Medicine Wheel Incorporated, a Native American run, cross-cultural counseling and healing approach in South Dakota, USA. He continues to be mentored in Lakota (Native American) and Venda (South African) ceremonial traditions.

Jonathan has years of clinical experience as a spiritual counselor and holistic healing practitioner, utilizing a variety of therapeutic traditions in private, resort, and hospital settings. He has shared his experience and insights with numerous groups and organizations, demonstrated by an extensive history of presentations, lectures and workshops throughout the USA and Canada. Jonathan has been a regular special offerings facilitator at leading wellness centers such as Canyon Ranch and Miraval. Author of “Working With Indigenous Elders: A Handbook for Professionals,” Jonathan has published in the fields of holistic health, Indigenous healing, spirituality and health, and organizational wellness.

In his years of experience in healthcare based management, Jonathan was a senior executive in the second largest healthcare organization in Canada. As Director of Organizational Development and Wellness for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Jonathan lead the designing and implementing of an organizational cultural change program addressing 27000 staff in more than 130 sites, while serving as a lecturer with the University of Manitoba School of Nursing. He also guest lectured in the departments of Family Medicine, Community Health Sciences and Pharmacy.

Jonathan’s passion lays in his work as a Spiritual Teacher and his international involvement with Indigenous spiritual teachers. He is currently the Spiritual Programs Director for Canyon Ranch, an international leader in the integrative health industry.
